Book Review: Sabriel

Sabriel

Sabriel is the daughter of Tercil, the latest of the Abhorsen, a clan of Necromancers who work for the royal family putting dead to eternal rest instead of bringing them back. One day Abhorsen(Tercil) doesn't come to visit Sabriel the day he usually does. Sabriel sensing something is amiss sets out on a quest to find her father, but Sabriel is going to realize it might be her turn to become the Abhorsen.


During her journey Sabriel learns things about her families past and what being the Abhorsen entails. Arriving at her fathers cabin in a secluded forest she gets attacked by a greater dead being called a Mordicant, without proper help she cannot imprison it back to death so she must quickly find a way to flee from the area. Going into the cabin she meets Mogget, a magical being in the form of a cat who aides the Abhorsens. Mogget leads Sabriel to a flying machine called a Paperwing, which they use to flee from the Mordicant. Mogget and Sabriel eventually stumble upon a man named Touchstone, a bastard son and the only living link to the royal family. With their new companion Sabriel, Touchstone, and Mogget continue their search for Sabriel's father and find themselves facing a greater threat that can destroy the entire kingdom.


I greatly enjoyed this book for many reasons the main one being I like fantasy type books involving magic and whatnot. This book has a couple of messages, the main one being dealing with losses and learning and handling new responsibilities in life.

Never read it. Sounds interesting though.

It's actually a 3 part series.

Ok nice. I kinda like series.
