| Here are my ideas for the Wii's successor. The New Revolution (1) - Spoiler:
New name, new Nintendo. Don't call it the "Wii2", "WiiHD", or anything else related to the Wii. Nintendo should basically push the reset button on their console ideas and make a fresh start. That's what people like to see...
(2)- Spoiler:
HD is standard, not an option. Back in the day (the 1990s), nobody had a 60" plasma HDTV in their basement. Times have changed, and eleven years later, the only people I know that regularly use those clunky TV's are my grandmothers.
Imagine being able to watch the grass flow in the breeze on Hyrule Field (Twilight Princess sequel! Make it happen in HD, Nintendo) or gazing at the detail of Samus' armor in glorious HD. This will let developers stretch their legs a bit and would let them make better looking games all the time.
(3)- Spoiler:
Online is where it's at. Microsoft and Sony have already jumped on the online bandwagon and have so far made some excellent progress. Nintendo, drop the Friend Codes, and go with something easier like a username/password combo. Throw in better looking Avatars (no more Miis), matchmaking, demos, achievements, DLC, and Friends and you'll be golden.
(4)- Spoiler:
Down with shovelware. I know I'm not the only guy who wishes the Wii had better third-party support. Nintendo should revamp the "Seal of Quality" to ensure only the bad games get left behind. Let the kids have their fun with Cooking Mama and whatever, as long as most of the games are worth an 8/10 or higher, and as long as the adults can have fun with awesome shooters, RPG's, etc.
(5) - Spoiler:
Media, media, media. Lately, everything does everything. My iPod can do music, movies, podcasts, and games, so why can't the new Revolution? A music store is appreciated, but not necessary, since you should be able to import music to the Revolution through USB.
However, a video store and downloadable game store is needed. Give us 100+ GB to store everything.
(6) - Spoiler:
Make it work and sell. All of this HD business, as well as other features, is still pretty new to Nintendo, and they don't want to make the mistakes Microsoft and Sony made. So keep the system secure to prevent piracy, and don't go banning everyone on the online multiplayer.
Also, they need to give it something to sell. Something big that will take their competitors years to beat.
So give your comments on what is needed, please. 'Preciate it!

| You hit most of my key points. I also say, make motion control optional and make it cheaper than everything else | |

This. The motion control is too gimmicky. Also, 3D support should be integrated and be optional, and a nice internet browser if you please. One thing that would be amazing is if they had a touch screen type controller. You could expand the controls a bit, and new technology makes it possible to give touchscreens a texture, like denim or satin. I can think of hundreds of ways to use this in any game. So yeah, that's what I want.

| Wait...is this Nintendo only? I'll pass.
But if someone could make a TV where you can watch 3D movies WITHOUT the need for glasses, that'd be great.

Just like the 360 is Microsoft only, and PS3 is Sony only. Just because something has the word "Nintendo" attached to it doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna be terrible. Sony's working on a glasses-less 3DTV, but it's probably gonna be extremely expensive.

Sony's working on a glasses-less 3DTV, but it's probably gonna be extremely expensive. First of all, I knew you were all talking about Nintendo. Second, I never said that everything that comes out of Nintendo is terrible, you just assumed that. I was inferring that I don't believe (IMO) Nintendo is going to make "the next big thing". If Sony actually manages to make a working 3DTV without the need for glasses, I would take back anything negative I have ever said about that company

| @LolICU: Sorry for assuming, that. It was based on the previous assumptions you made here on the forum of Nintendo's progress so far. You can tell a lot about a person with just mere words.../foreshadowing Secondly, we're not really talking about Nintendo's "next big thing". Simply what could happen and what should happen... Oh, and on that 3DTV thing, I had a link somewhere around here... | |
