This tutorial is a very simple one on showing you how to make some "Pressed" Text on a signature or button. It came from part of a tutorial I saw on GimpKnowHow and figured it could be useful for many things so here it is. Note: The order of the steps is also changed a bit to what I feel is more understandable and easier. You still get the same product.
Example:
Step 1. Open up your sig, background, button, or whatever you want to put the text in. For this one I'll be using a simple sig size with a gradient.
Step 2. Put your text on your canvas. Make sure you're using Black text, preferably large and bold.
Step 3. Select your text layer.
Filters> Light and Shadow> Drop ShadowUse these settings:
Lower the opacity to about 54.8.
Step 4. Do the exact same thing only with these settings:
Change the opacity to 54.8.
Step 5. Right click on the text layer and select: Alpha to Selection
Then select the Black drop shadow layer and press "Delete".
Repeat with the White drop shadow layer.
Select>NoneStep 6. Select the original text layer and change the type to "Overlay" and change the opacity to around 47.1.
If you did all these right then you should have some "Pressed" looking text. Mine didn't turn out as planned so I changed up the gradients a bit and this is the result:
